PROJECT overview

Regenerating a dated 1980s laboratory and office space into a modern, fully equipped suite.

Having worked with Glenside on previous laboratory and other projects over a number of years, the client selected the team to provide a turnkey project to develop an old laboratory and office space into a modern laboratory suite. From initial concepts and detailed design through to complete fulfilment of the project, Glenside worked in close collaboration with client stakeholders to deliver the new space within a compact timescale.

THE CHALLENGE

A constrained, dated space that had to keep working around live operations

The existing facilities were generally of 1980s construction, with old concrete ceilings, asbestos and dilapidated furniture and finishes.

Existing technical infrastructure was dated and inadequate for the new laboratory environment.

OUR SOLUTION

A complete visual and technical transformation.

The existing space was transformed with metal suspended ceilings, new glazed and solid partitioning and doors, new safety flooring and full decoration in cleanable finishes. Glenside also provided a complete new installation of resilient laboratory benching, storage, racking and seating. The technical transformation included new ventilation and temperature control systems, together with replacement electrical, data, lighting, nitrogen, compressed air, water, sprinkler and fire detection systems. New fume cupboards and local extract ventilation were also supplied and installed.
